Half-day STC UK event in Sheffield: March 25th Sheffield
by Nick Rosenthal VP2
We are pleased to announce that STC UK will organise a half-day event in Sheffield on Saturday March 25th 2006.
After our successful one-day conferences in Manchester, London and Sheffield during 2005, we are experimenting with a slightly different format this time. The Sheffield event is being hosted at Sheffield Hallam University http://www.shu.ac.uk, which is conveniently located close to the railway station in the centre of Sheffield. And to give us all time to travel there, we are starting the conference at 13:30. For those able to arrive a bit earlier, we are meeting for an informal lunch at Café Azure at the Millennium Galleries. The café's address and map can be found at http://www.sheffieldgalleries.org.uk/coresite/html/millennium.asp
The topic of the Sheffield event is "Marketing yourself". All of us have to market ourselves, whether we are freelance writers looking for our next contract or employees aiming to make a good impression on our employers. So this is an event that all of us can derive real benefit from. There are three speakers, each talking for about 45 minutes on the following topics:
- How to prepare for your performance appraisal (speaker: TBA)
- What employers really look for when hiring (speaker: Mark Clifford)
- he importance of ongoing professional development and lifelong learning (speaker: TBA)
