STC-Supported Editing Survey
Your help has been requested.

Angela Eaton, of Texas Tech University, is leading at research team studying editing. Their project received a $10,000 STC Research Award this past year. The entire study focuses on studying editing from the author's point of view, a relatively unexplored viewpoint in our field's research. They want to study the variables that affect whether an author makes the changes an editor suggests and to understand the conceptions authors have of the editorial process, and to see if these factors change across cultures and native languages.

If your writing has been edited, please take the survey, located here: http://english.ttu.edu/EatonSurvey/EditingSurvey

If you are an editor, please forward the link to the survey to the three people whose work you edit the most frequently and carbon copy Angela's email address on the invitation (angela.eaton@ttu.edu).

The survey only takes 14-18 minutes (depending on how much the respondent has to say) and has received approval by Texas Tech University's Human Subjects Review Board.

Results of the study will be presented at this year's STC Annual Conference, and they will also be submitted for publication to Technical Communication and Intercom.
