Five MRes scholarships are available for Masters study into Human-Computer Interaction at the University of Lancaster.
Bursaries are still available on a competitive basis for UK/EU students on the MRes in Human-Computer Interaction (formerly Design and Evaluation of Advanced Interactive Systems), Lancaster University.
This course is a collaborative initiative between the Departments Computing, Design and Psychology in response to the increasing prominence of digital information in society and radical changes in the nature of our everyday interaction with technology. Students get opportunities to learn about current knowledge in human-computer interaction, experience advanced techniques and interaction design and understand empirical methods for evaluation.
During collaborative group design projects students engage in interaction design for state of the art technology such as ubiquitous computing, web interfaces and novel devices, and address issues of user experience as well as more traditional usability. While not neglecting established application areas in the office and 'work' environments, we also encourage students to consider broader domains such as web communities, devices and interfaces in vehicles and the home, applications for fun and entertainment, and arts- technology intersections.
Applicants are encouraged from relevant disciplines such as computing, psychology or ergonomics, but also we have had students from other related areas such as graphic design and music technology. Mature students also very welcome as the course gets its buzz from the (sometimes eclectic) mix of academic and practical backgrounds of its members.
