We want to encourage as many people to attend our chapter AGM as possible, to give us your views about what the STC UK Chapter should be doing for you. So the delegate rate for UK Chapter members is just £25 for the Saturday, including buffet lunch, all refreshments and even the chocolate and champagne (and orange juice!) Presidents' Reception. You can use our new online booking facility for the Trends in Technical Communication and Chapter AGM event at: http://stcuktrendsintechnicalcommunication.eventbrite.com If you find the booking system too difficult please contact Ant Davey directly via

or by phone on 020 7554 4626 (w) As we have only just been able to announce the full agenda for the weekend, the Early Bird booking period has been extended until 23:59 on Saturday 17th May. Highly respected trainer, consultant and writer Sarah O'Keefe of Scriptorium will be flying in from North Carolina to be our keynote speaker, rounding off the first day by talking to us about organisational paradigm shifts. This sounds dry stuff - but it isn't! It is all about how people cope with change, and it affects us all. As well as wisdom and insight from Sarah O'Keefe, Ant Davey will be offering his thoughts and leading a discussion on change management in the field of technical communication, and Shannon Milsom, senior technical author at CSR plc (mobile communications technologists), will tell us about her personal experiences while implementing a CMS. Sunday will feature an Introduction to XSL workshop lead by Sarah, so bring your laptop with you. This is a great opportunity to get the benefit of Sarah's three-day workshop on XSL.
Sarah O'Keefe is the Principal and founder of Scriptorium Publishing Services, a communications consultancy based in Raleigh, North Carolina. She is a regular conference speaker at events such as the STC Summit, WritersUA, and tekom. This two-day STC UK event takes place on Saturday and Sunday 21 and 22 June 2008, at the Quality Hotel Birmingham, conveniently situated in Edgbaston. This means that Friday night is curry night! Plan to stay over on Friday night for a 9.30 start on Saturday morning. The hotel is offering us a great rate for bed and breakfast on a per room basis: all rooms are twins or doubles, and are available to delegates at just £60 for single occupancy and £65 for double occupancy, so great savings if you can find someone to share with! Hotel reservations: To book your room, contact the Quality Hotel on 0121-454 6621 and quote the 'STC event' to benefit from these great rates. We have also written a separate list of other hotels in Birmingham. You can see the full agenda here. Costs for the weekend are: Early Bird bookings
